I am currently working as a research fellow at the University College London. I am highly interested in mountaineering. I have climbed few mountains in the past including Aconcagua (Argentina), Kilimanjaro(Tanzania), Hyana Potosi(Bolivia). I used the services of Pasang Dendi sherpa, recommended by another friend of mine. I climbed Meera Peak in Nepal during April 2007 and a also a hike to Namche bazaar on the base camp trek route. I took 17 days for the entire trip. Dendi received me at the airport and organised the whole trip. I communicated with him through Email. I had instant replies from him, so it was quite simple to organise the trip. For the Meera peak climb he had organised another climbing guide and he accompanied me all the way to the high camp. He is very friendly, warm and caring. I am highly impressed by his services. He has no commercial motivation and his passion for the mountains was quite obvious. He was very energetic and enthusiastic. I felt like I am climbing with another friend of mine. I recommend his services for any of your mountaineering needs in Nepal. During the fall of 2006 Dendi acted as a guide for my girlfriend and I. Throughout our two week trek to Everest Base Camp / Kalla Pattar, Dendi was able to provide cultural insights and connections to the local people that I am certain we would not have been able to achieve on our own. He is a very organized guide and he managed some of the trip details in a manner that did not distance us from the experience of traveling. The trail to EBC is straight forward and non-technical. To this extent I am not able to speak to Dendi’s technical abilities in the mountains other than to say that I myself am an Association of Canadian Mountain Guide certified Day Hiking Guide and I appreciated his pace and sense of awareness on the trail. I am certain that Dendi’s presence during our trek added value to the experience. He is a friendly man with a decent handle on the English language. If you are looking for a guide I would recommend that you contact him, ask many questions, and see if his services match what you are looking to experience in Nepal. It certainly did for us. If you would like more information please feel free to contact me at the
e-mail address below.
Cheers!
Ben GallivanCanada
mountnhi@hotmail.com

Letter of Recommendation from England

I have known Pasang Dendi for approximately 3 years and have employed him on 2 separate trips to Nepal, the most recent, a successful summit of Island Peak where his organizing and attention to detail were first class. My first trip, in October 2003, I spent a month with him trekking around the Annapurna region, an amazing experience. His knowledge of his own country is impressive and although when we first met, his English was very patchy, he has worked extremely hard at improving. He is a very compassionate and reliable person and very good company to be with. For anyone wishing to trek or climb Nepal, Dendi is someone I would put my trust in again and again and through my visits to Nepal I have also gained a very good friend.
Dave Morgan
Birkdale yateBristol
SouthglosBS 3724 ET
England
Tell.: 0044145881007

Letter of Recommendation from Luxembourg.

My Husband and me,

We traveled to Nepal last autumn. We trusted and internet recommendation and chose Sherpa Pasang Dendi trekking company while still at home in Luxembourg. We were so pleasantly surprised upon arrival in Kathmandu as Dendi Pasang had succesfully organised everything starting from airport pickup, city tour, friendship dinner, hotel arragement, plane tickets to Lukla etc. Out trekking guides fro the 2 week trekking tour into Khumbu Everest region was Furwa Lama we could not have wished better companions for that! Apart from ensuring smooth functioning (incl. carefully chosen lodges and menus) of the planned trekking, the guys really cared about our well being (in all respect) during the trip. Being very much interested in the non-apparent aspects of their culture and religion we greatly appreciated that these young men were able to tell us so much about their ways of living as well as the Himalayan flora and fauna. In our opinion, for the paid price we got an excellent service plus some real friends in Nepal. We sincerely wish them best of luck in their trekking business! We can recommend his service to anyone. As a result I contacted him to organize a trek around Annapurna, including the ascent and basecamp organization of Chulu East en route. On arrival in Kathmandu, Dendi greeted us at the airport, it was soon clear to what great efforts he had made on our behalf to create a smooth running trip.Dendi has a great deal of honor and is true to his word. Our only contact beforehand had been via e-mail. Everything he said he would do was done such as obtaining visas and permits. This made the start of our trip free of problems. The Sherpas have a worldwide reputation as being honest, friendly and hardworking. Dendi is all of these and an absolute credit to his people. His knowledge of Nepal d its culture enriched the trip greatly for us, as well as his open manner and sense of humor.Dendi worked hard for us and can think of no other who could have done better. He was vigilant of the food we ate and our well being wherever we stayed. He has provided treks and peak climbs to many foreign tourists and has a great amount of useful contacts when it comes to organising lodges, equipment or transport arrangements. He has been through all the required government training as well as working previously for a company. He took me up EBC and Kala Pattar on a 2-week trek (Jan 2004) and I found his service most professional and I also consider him now a friend. He speaks four languages (Nepali, Tibetan, Sherpa and English), which is a great help in the mountains and in the city. He knows many lodge owners, and on the trek he always made sure that I got the best room and treatment. He is personally interested in the customer, and thus the treatment is far better than that through a company. He has porter contact as well, if so required, and his overall trek charges “are extremely competitive – don’t waste your money on a company. He has previously taken large groups on treks (which naturally have a lower per person cost), as well as groups of 2 and 3, and of course my self, a lone trekker. I thoroughly enjoyed the trek and his company. His stories of Himalayan ascents as well as his good knowledge of the mountains were really entertaining. His is truly a great trekking asset!
Ryan Stevenson
16, Harbour LightsHout
bay 7806
Cepe South Africa
Emai: ryan@chemeng.uct.ca.za

Letter of Recommendation From New Zealand & South Africa

Personal Reference - Pasang Dendi SherpaTo Whom It May Concern

Between 05 May 2003 and 25 May 2003, we employed the services of Pasang Dendi Sherpa as a trekking guide in the Solukhumbu in Everest region. The service Dendi provided was of an outstanding standard, making our trek a hassle-free experience. We flew from Pokhara to Jomsom and from there we trekked up to Muktinath back down the Kali Gandaki Valley up to Gorapani, further on to Ghandruk and Chhomrong then back to Pokhara.Dendi knew the area pretty well. He knew the shortcuts and he had a great deal of knowledge of the people and the nature along the trek.He carried our rather heavy load of 27.5 kg luggage and in spite of that he always paid good attention to us ‘middle aged people’, was very helpful when we have to cross more difficult passages and frequently he asked us about our well-being. And when one of us got problems with the altitude. Dendi did a good head-massage and help in many ways. And he could pack a rucksack, when we have given up.He participated on some rather rough ‘climbing’ up the slopes with us in to order to see some species of pheasant and brought us safe back down to the lodge. (We saw only one pheasant but Dendi was not to blame for this).Dendi was always in a good mood and eager to tell about the area and to discuss political and other issues. And he was not afraid of playing cards with nearly everybody when we have reached our daily destination and a long evening was lying ahead of us.So to put in a more short way: we can highly recommend Pasang Dendi Sherpa as a porter/guide to anybody who wants to go trekking in the mountains of Nepal.
Sten Sogaard
Lise Nortved Pedersen
Orvej 28 3140 Als GardeDenmark

Letter of Recommendation from England

To Whom It May Concern

Regarding Pasang Dendi Sherpa,

It was by accident I first met Dendi in Kathmandu, and immediately I was drawn to his smile and welcoming manner. As it happened I was looking to trek the Annapura Circuit and discussed the issue with Dendi who was very informative and helpful. He also offered excellent rates compared to other people I knew had hired guides. In total I spent a month in Dendi's company, being so impressed with him on the Annapurna Circuit that I decided to go to Everest with him as well!!! I consider Dendi to be a trustworthy friend who would do anything to help you even at his own expense.... he is truly a great example of the Sherpa People and their kind nature.Dendi and I shared many adventures together and he made the few months I stayed in Nepal a really memorable experience. His history and knowledge of the mountains, combined with his great sense of humor make his the perfect traveling companion. Therefore it goes without saying I HIGHLY RECOMMEND PASANG DENDI SHERPA as a Himalayan guide.Yours sincerely
Paul Brewer,
50B North Road,
Midsomer Norton,Bath,
SomersetBA3 2QQ,
ENGLAND
